Verification session
Immediately after starting an application, a potential renter will be asked to complete the identity document verification session. The session consists of a document and selfie check. The renter will be asked to take a photo of their valid government issued ID, then take a selfie to match. Check out the For renter ID verification best practices & FAQs
Document check
The verification session captures high-definition pictures of the fronts and backs of documents. The document images are analyzed in real-time to check for legibility and warn the user if the document is expired or unlikely to be verified.
Wherever available, barcodes and other machine-readable features of the document are decoded and consistency checks are performed to ensure that the text document data matches the machine-readable data.
Document checks are available for most government issued documents (national IDs, driver’s licenses and passports). Acceptable identity documents vary by country, however, passports are widely supported.
NOTE: Intellirent cannot support extraction of document fields written in Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Korean, Tamil, or Thai script.
Selfie check
While document checks provide a defense against the use of fraudulent identity documents, it’s possible for fraudsters to get access to legitimate stolen documents. To prevent this, the verification session includes a selfie check.
Selfie checks look for distinguishing biological traits, such as face geometry, from a photo ID and a picture of the potential renter's face. AI algorithms are then used to ensure the face pictures belong to the same person.
Session status & results
After payment and submission of an application, the results of the verification session will be available to the housing provider and can be found in two places,
Results include the front image of the Government issued ID document (when images are permissible), matching document data, and the verification status. The selfie image is not returned in the verification session results.
Human judgment is always recommended when screening potential renters. When reviewing verification results, organizations may use the review suggestions to get the most out of the verification session results.
VERIFIED
The verification session is complete and both the identity document and the selfie check are successful. The verification session result will be VERIFIED.
An Organization should confirm that the document data matches the remaining application fields as well as credit and background reports.
UNVERIFIED
The verification session is complete and at least one of the checks failed. When either the identity document check or the selfie check are unsuccessful, the verification session result will be UNVERIFIED.
A renter will have a total of 3 attempts to return a VERIFIED session result.
An Organization should check which check failed. If there are remaining session attempts and the application file has remained in the Active state, the renter may choose to login and try again. The renter should follow the tips and best practices for a successful ID verification session.
NOT ANALYZED
A verification session was not attempted for the document.
A verification session can only be performed on one document. If the potential renter has uploaded more than one Government Issued ID document, the verification session result for the additional attached documents will be NOT ANALYZED.
CONSENT DECLINED
A verification session was not attempted for the document due to failure to consent. When the renter has decline consent to conduct the verification, the verification session result will be NOT ANALYZED and CONSENT DECLINED.
When the renter has declined consent and the application file is in the Active state, the renter may log back into their account to complete the verification session should they choose to do so.
NOTE: After moving a submitted file to any other state such as Archived, the renter is no longer able to make changes to their application file.
